In a short thirty-second video posted yesterday, Crunchyroll declared voting open for the 2024 edition of the Anime Awards. Like the Oscars for movies and Game Awards for video games, this ceremony aims to reward animated series across several categories. And like his two colleagues, the most interesting category to scrutinize and that of Best anime of the year : on the program, two behemoths will compete for the place of n°1: part 1 of the fourth and final season of The attack of the Titans against the second part of season 1 of Jujutsu Kaisen, the best-selling manga in Japan. If this confrontation acts as a fratricidal duel for MAPPA, which is behind the animation of these two works, the other guests could cause trouble. Note the presence of Ranking of Kings, animated that has recently been talked about and whose animation is managed by Wits (The attack of the Titans, the first three seasons). Sonny Boy is produced by Madhouse (Takt. Op.), former parent company of the founder of Mappa.
But what would an awards ceremony be without its categories? There are a total of 21 awards (best anime of the year included) which will be awarded after January 25, the deadline for submitting votes on the dedicated Crunchyroll site. Among them, a prize rewards the best animation and sees heavyweight: ufotable with Demon Slayer: The Infinity Train, Mappa with Jujutsu Kaisen Season Part 2 or even CloverWorks with Wonder Egg Priority. Do not panic for fans of tokyo revenge, nominated several times including that of the anime with the best opening credits. In this category, he will face The attack of the Titans, Beastars, Jujutsu Kaisen, Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid S and Oddtaxi.
