Released “broken” after a massive marketing campaign, Cyberpunk 2077 has become a real textbook case. If it was very playable and beautiful on PC as long as we stayed in the nails, Cyberpunk 2077 was not at the level expected on PS4 Pro and Xbox One X, and almost unplayable on PS4 and Xbox One.
Faced with the anger of the players, the studio apologized, started a refund campaign, and the teams set about developing big updates, allowing the title to present a much more attractive face in the last months of the year. Also, CD Projekt announced the acquisition of a new studio, and a total reorganization of the teams in order to work more efficiently and avoid re-experiencing such a situation. We will have to wait to perceive the effects and see if the studio manages to regain the confidence of the players, but internally, work continues.
From the first hours of the new year, several concordant rumors have appeared on 4chan, then on Reddit. If all that follows is to be taken with a grain of salt, the fact remains that what is shared seems coherent and quite plausible. According to the information that has come to light, and who have not been confirmed by CD Projekt, a live could take place in February to introduce players to the next-gen version of the title, long promised and several times postponed.
The Polish studio would see this update as a second launch, which would result in a new name: Cyberpunk 2077: Samurai Edition, but also by the highlighting of the anime produced by the studio Trigger, Cyberpunk 2077: Edgerunner, and of the first extension. Among the novelties mentioned in the leaks, we find a rebalanced loot system, a way New Game +, a free DLC adding four new weapons, a redesigned AI, or a reworked user interface in depth.
The personalization of the apartment would also be there, as well as a garage, hairdressing salons, and the ability to transmogrify gear (give it another appearance while keeping the attributes). For a little more immersion, the studio would provide many small additions, such as the fact that Panam and Judy could contact V more often in order to exchange. Finally, CD Projekt reportedly developed a minigame similar to The Witcher 3’s Gwent, with a multi mode, which would take place in cyberspace and in which creatures would be pitted against each other.
The other big piece of the leaks concerns the first expansion of the game, whose development has been accelerating for several months. According to the information collected, she would take place in Pacifica, an area present in Night City with abandoned or unfinished hotel complexes, and in which little time is spent in the base game. The content would be very substantial, and would invite players into an area inspired by STALKER referred to as the Combat Zone.
Inside, players would find two gangs, the Bozos (violent psychopathic clowns with an unhealthy sense of humor) and the Slaughterhouses (violent fascist psychopaths), as well as many quests to accomplish. Let us conclude by evoking the case of the second extension. Indeed, the leaks indicate that production has started, but that it would only come out if the first extension is well received.
It is true that if these rumors are confirmed, the program seems rather interesting. However, let’s remain cautious, and wait for CD Projekt to officially announce Something.
