Bioware alumnus Casey Hudson (Mass Effect, KOTOR) founds his own studio

It was on Twitter that Casey Hudson spoke last night to announce the news. He declares “work with colleagues on something amazing that he can’t talk about today“. If this announcement is more than an appetizer than anything else, the former general manager of Bioware indicates founding Humanoid, a new independent studio :

Today, we are announcing the creation of a new video game company dedicated to unlocking the creative freedom of developers as well as bringing innovation and art to gamers. via a brand new franchise.

Casey Hudson therefore speaks of a brand new franchise which is still in its infancy. As proof, the Humanoid home page which indicates that the studio is looking to fill many key positions as Creative Director, Level Designer or a Director of Operations. It is all the more difficult to imagine what will Casey Hudson turn towards since in his 2020 departure ticket, he talks about wanting something different:

2020 was an opportunity for me to reconsider what we want for our life and our work. As far as I’m concerned, I realized that I still had the energy to create but that I had to do something different. I’m not sure what it is at the moment, but I know I want to rediscover my creative passion through more personal work.

As a reminder, Casey Hudson started working at Bioware in 1998 as a technical artist. He climbs the ranks and manages projects like the trilogy of Mass Effect and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. He made a quick stint at Microsoft before returning to Bioware to oversee the Mass Effect Legendary Edition.
