Succumb to the joys of foldable smartphones with the Motorola Razr 5G on sale

Before the arrival of iPhones in 2007 and the democratization of smartphones which would make everyone agree, the cell phone market was divided in two. The classics versus those with clamshell, like the Motorola Razr V3, released in 2004, and that the whole world was tearing like a robot cook at Lidl on a day off.

Like the biggest brands of the time such as Nokia or Sony Ericsson, Motorola did not believe or did not know how to take the wave of smartphones launched by Apple and gradually fell into oblivion on more total.

But like a phoenix, the American firm has gradually got back on track, first offered traditional smartphones with its “Moto G” and then, taking advantage of the popular craze for foldable smartphones and still enjoying its benefits. ‘a strong reputation with the Razr V3, took the opportunity to release in 2019 the worthy heir of the latter then in 2024 the Razr 5G.

Contrary to appearances, the Motorola Razr 5G is not another foldable smartphone like the Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip from Samsung, the Mix Fold from Xiaomi or the Surface Duo from Microsoft. Because where all these smartphones are aimed in particular at technophiles avid for the latest technologies, the Motorola Razr 5G is aimed more at an audience wanting something beautiful, neat, with a unique look and which surfs on the nostalgia of the years. 2000.

The goal of the Razr 5G is to find this flip phone aspect while offering a modern and functional smartphone, even if it would have benefited from having a slightly more complete technical sheet. Once opened, we are therefore entitled to a fairly classic smartphone with a 6.2 inch OLED main screen, a 2.4 GHz Snapdragon 765G SoC supported by 8 GB RAM and 256 GB internal memory. The performance is thus correct, nothing more, but we are entitled to expect better from a phone sold at a high price of nearly 1600 euros.

The whole point of this type of phone, besides the aesthetic and practical aspect, is to offer something different from what we are used to seeing, and this is the case with the small 2.7 inch control screen which works completely autonomously and which will be perfect for checking the time, responding to messages and even watching small videos quickly on Youtube, all in a really compact format.

To be complete, the Razr 5G has a 2800 mAh battery, a 48 MP wide-angle photo sensor and an 20 MP selfie camera. He is 5G compatible, as the name suggests, has a location Dual-Sim and NFC. No waterproofing, Micro SD port or jack on the other hand.

If you are looking for an original and differentiating phone and you are ready to put 1200 euros in a smartphone, then the Motorola Razr 5G is a choice to consider.

Available on Motorola’s official website for € 1,599, the Razr 5G is currently on sale at Rue du Commerce for the modest sum of € 1,209.
