It was recently learned that Nintendo had originally planned to participate in the Opening Ceremony, but that plans changed at the last moment. The publisher has not spoken, but various matters concerning those responsible for the ceremony and the opinion of the Japanese public have apparently prompted Nintendo to step back. What does it matter, since we find Link from the Belgian gymnastics team, the hero of The Legend of Zelda series. The news has reached us thanks to Nintendeal, who spotted a photograph in which we see Marjorie Heuls, who trains Olympic champion Nina Derwael, currently hold Link’s amiibo playing the ocarina (Ocarina of Time).
She announced that the amiibo had been donated by her children in 2017, and that she always kept it with her during competitions. In other words, Link has become a real lucky charm, since since that date, Nina Derwael has won bronze at the world championships and gold on uneven bars in Tokyo.
