It must be admitted that in recent weeks, Mass Effect has filled the news more with its potential series hosted by Amazon and the statements of Henry Cavill than by information communicated around the next title of the saga. That being said, the next title in the space opera de Bioware was talked about again at the end of last week. It’s Brenon Holmes, producer at Bioware and working on the upcoming Mass Effect, sharing a job posting on Twitter:
BioWare is hiring talented programmers with UE4 / 5 experience! Come, join our team and work with us on the next Mass Effect game! Https: //t.co/6Wr7CpRnh4#BioWare #hiring #UnrealEngine

Bioware is recruiting talented programmers with experience on Unreal Engine 4/5! Come, join our team and work with us on the next Mass Effect game!
But beware: here, Brenon Holmes does not confirm that Mass Effect will run under Unreal Engine 5. However, it remains important to underline that if Bioware decides to choose Unreal Engine as graphics engine, it would therefore be a return for the license. Indeed, if the trilogy runs under the engine of Epic Game, this is not the case of Mass Effect Andromeda which used the Frostbite Engine.
And just to confirm, I’ve heard from a handful of sources now that this is the case. Obviously. And this was a choice made by the team putting the game together, which is how it should work.

A return to basics confirmed by several people to Jeff Grubb, journalist at VentureBeat. The latter even indicates that this choice to return to the engine of the trilogy would have been launched by the team in place on the next Mass Effect. Understood, it is not a choice of Electronic Arts but of Bioware. In addition, it is always Jeff Grubb who, him, indicates that the game would turn under the latest version of Unreal Engine, namely UE 5. A graphics engine whose performance has recently been seen via the Matrix Awakens application: a demo version which can be downloaded on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series.
That being said, it will be a while before we get to the bottom of it since Bioware is also working on the sequel to the Dragon Age saga. To be patient, it is always possible to make the Mass Effect trilogy: it was recently reissued in an updated version, released last May.
