Originally released in 2010, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game – Complete Edition is a reissue of Ubisoft’s beat’em up released following the Edgar Wright movie of the same name. In fact, the title is based on the original Bryan Lee O’Malley comic book. We follow the adventures of Scott Pilgrim who must face the seven evil exes of his girlfriend, Ramona Flowers, in order to be able to live peacefully with her. In the streets of Toronto, we therefore face armies of minions in this 2D pixel art experience playable solo or in cooperation with other players. As for the content of this Complete Edition, we find the four fighters from the base game, plus the other two in DLC, as well as bonus game modes to extend the experience.
Originally released on WiiU in 2013, Super Mario 3D World was ported to Switch in early 2024 in an improved version. There is an experience halfway between 2D and 3D Mario games in which it is possible to play in cooperation with up to four players with new costumes like that of the cat, particularly effective. This re-release also features Bowser’s Fury, a sort of open-world extension that can only be played solo and which bodes well for the future of the mustached Italian plumber.
Monster Hunter Rise was one of the phenomena of the beginning of the year by offering a more accessible but still more complete version of Capcom’s famous hunting license. The principle remains the same since players must always go and face impressive creatures with neat animations to collect items and forge weapons and armor from them. If the title has been the subject of many adjustments to make the experience more ergonomic than its predecessors, multiplayer still retains a central role.
In the category of PVP shooting games, Knockout City occupies a special place since it replaces the weapons with the balloons to offer a ball game experience to the prisoner in multiplayer. The principle is simple: two teams of three players compete in arenas and the goal is obviously to eliminate your opponents by hitting them with a ball. Thanks to effective gameplay, the title offers feints and different shooting options to achieve victory. Finally, know that Knockout City is now partly free-to-play since it allows you to try its first levels for free.
After its launch in 2024, Streets of Rage 4 is offering additional paid content with Streets of Rage 4: Mr. X Nightmare. Among the novelties, there are three new playable characters: Estel Aguirre and his easy-to-learn gameplay intended for newcomers, Max Thunder, a wrestler who specializes in projections, and Shiva who takes advantage of aerial combos and his special moves that allow you to perform offensive dash. Next to that, survival mode has been added and features roguelite-like mechanics that turn every attempt into a unique experience. Thus, with each new wave of enemies eliminated, your character gains small improvements. Finally, note that the DLC also brings new weapons, blows and music for even more variety.
Astonishing encounter between the world of Pokémon and that of MOBA, Pokémon Unite offered itself an early release on Switch before landing on mobiles. If the game lightens the elements of the formula to make it all public, it takes elements of the famous Nintendo license such as evolutions. Easy to learn and accessible, the title exudes a good-natured atmosphere in a streetwear aesthetic and is regularly entitled to new creatures to feed its roaster.
More than a new episode, Mario Party Superstars is a compilation of the best moments of the franchise. The players browse the game boards of the first Mario Party trilogy in graphics that have obviously been brought up to date. There are therefore 55 mini-games from the Nintendo 64 era, 36 from the GameCube era and 9 from the Wii and Wii U era for a total of 100 games. Finally, some additional options have also been added to boost the course of the games.
