Famitsu, a Japanese video game magazine, yesterday published a list of interviews with 127 industry figures. Among her, Shinjiro Takada. It’s the product manager from the creative department of the first division of Atlus, a well-known Japanese publisher Shin megami tensei and Persona. Via a statement in which he discusses the company’s projects, he ignites the powder:
I will say that it is challenge the keyword of 2024. That year, Atlus hopes to release a game that should serve as a backbone for the company.. We are all working very hard at Atlus to develop this game to be interesting and satisfying.
But then, what could be this pillar game that Shinjiro Takada is talking about? Obviously, it is first the shadow of Persona and a sixth numbered episode that can be talked about.. After the critical and public success of the fifth opus, players are firmly awaiting the continuation … especially since the franchise derived from Shin megami tensei is celebrating its 25th anniversary right now and that Atlus “scheduled announcements between September 2024 and fall 2024“.
On the other hand, it is Project Re Fantasy which could be this mainstay game. If we know its development started since at least 2016, the title is still covered with mysteries: apart from a few drawings shared by Atlus, nothing of the game has filtered. Not even the type of game it was gonna be. Nevertheless, the studio wanted to be reassuring by indicating that the development of the title was progressing little by little. Still in the Famitsu article published yesterday, it is the producer and director at Atlus Katsua Hashino who speaks about it, indicating that “The development of Project Re Fantasy had reached its peak today“.
Obviously, these are not the only projects in progress on the side of Atlus. In July, it is one of the senior managers of Atlus Naoto Hiraoka who clarified the ambitions of the studio: there would be 5-6 projects developed internally. Among them, he probably figures Project Pen : a game developed by Atlus spotted on the Australian equivalent of PEGI, a game classification system.

In any case, we will have to wait until 2024 to wait for news of the next games from Atlus. As a reminder, Atlus released Shin Megami Tensei V on Switch last November, Persona 5 Strikers last February and plans to give a second youth to the game of versus Persona 4: Arena Ultimax. Released in 2014 on PS3 and Xbox 360, it is now expected on March 17 on PC, Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4.
