At this time, we do not yet know when this prequel to Game Of Thrones, produced by HBO and featuring the illustrious Targaryen family, will be released. Still, the broadcaster targets a launch in 2024, as recalled by the last trailer unveiled by the American channel last October.
But since then, the information around the next series in the universe imagined by George RR Martin is rather discreet. To learn more, we had to turn to the author himself since he taught us that he had been lucky enough to be able to attend the broadcast of a preliminary version of the first episode. The writer, who therefore prefers to discuss this new series rather than breaking the omerta around the next book in the saga Game Of Thrones, to know ” The Winds of Winter “, delivered his very clear first impressions!
It can be difficult, as an author, to visualize the result of the film or television adaptation of one of his own works: it is moreover the complicated exercise which recently engaged George RR Martin. ! 2024 is only a handful of hours away from us and the end of House of the dragon comes very close too. While waiting to be able to share the series with the general public, HBO wanted to take the temperature with the one who gave life to this universe.
Although he himself wrote this story which, let us remember, takes place 200 years before the events of Game Of Thrones, at a time when dragons still populate Westeros and the Targaryens assert their supremacy, George RR Martin has no shortage of vocabulary to describe his satisfaction at the work done. It’s quite simple: the author is thrilled and applauded the powerful, dark and visceral atmosphere that we find in his work of fantasy.
Conversely, if the latter has not been tender about the last season of Game Of Thrones, here it is quite the opposite. In his message, the author also took the opportunity to congratulate the producers (Ryan J. Condal and Miguel Sapochnik) for the quality and intensity of their work on the series. Here is the message posted by George RR Martin on his official website:
I myself am looking forward to House Of The Dragon (…) Okay, I’m not really objective and I know a lot of what you’re going to see. (…) I saw a preliminary version of the first episode. And I loved it. It’s dark, it’s powerful, it’s visceral… Exactly how I love my epic fantasy.
Ryan and Miguel did a terrific job, and the cast … like with Game of Thrones, most viewers will only have heard of a few actors, but I think you’re going to fall in love with a lot of them. (To be heartbroken later … but no, that would be too much to say). I think the Targaryens are in very good hands. (…) I don’t think you will be disappointed.
