But, most of the time, the price displayed is quite a lot higher than the selling price recommended by Sony and practiced in all the major classic brands (i.e. around € 500 for the classic PS5 with disc player and 400 € for the PS5 Digital Edition).
Why ? Because of a handful of people who have found a way to make money with a morally questionable technique: scalping. Scalpers spend a considerable amount of time scouring physical and virtual stores in search of the precious console. The idea is to take advantage of the shortage and desperation of people to sell the console several hundred euros above its normal price.

Either way, rather than giving your money away to scalpers, we strongly recommend that you wait for a return to stock at regular online merchants. As long as you don’t buy from a third-party reseller (like Amazon Marketplace for example), you won’t have any bad surprises and the console will be at its normal price.
