Professional players are not the only ones to be talked about! In the wake of a ranking on the eSports athletes who generated the most tweets, another similar top appeared on Monday: this time it was the games that generated the most posts on Twitter. Interestingly, there is (almost!) No similarity between the most popular athlete’s games and the most popular games. Only point in common? Fortnite, which scratches tenth place in the ranking (against the first three on the other top). In ninth position, Project Sekai Colorful Stage generated the most tweet after Fortnite. Unknown in Europe, the game seems to be a hit in Asia since the rhythm game includes Hatsune Miku: a 2D projection of a blue-haired humanoid who serves as a support for a voice synthesizer but who over time has become a real character on the Internet.
We have a new # 1 game in town!@GenshinImpact dominated the conversation around the world last year, while the rest of the list continued to have many familiar titles, which is a testament to their continued popularity. pic.twitter.com/crrViwdbK8

In eighth position, it is not surprising to find Minecraft, whose community we know is very active: whether it is for its more wacky creations than the others, or the engagement of this one on Youtube. In seventh and sixth position, we find Knives Out and Animal Crossing respectively: the first is a mobile battle royale resembling Fortnite, while the second exploded Nintendo’s sales records last year.
The first half of this ranking is meant to be less deceptive with games that have made headlines in recent months, but with a few surprises for a Western eye. This is evidenced by the fifth place in the ranking, occupied by Fate / Grand Order (2015 in Japan). This mobile game is an adaptation of the franchise of visuals novels Fate / stay night, which is a hit in Japan. Still Japanese, the fourth franchise to be talked about is Final Fantasy. We know that the community of the MMO Final Fantasy XIV is particularly active, especially since the game is well received at the Game Awards with its prize of “better listening to the community“.
On the podium, there is Ensemble Stars: a mobile game for collecting cards from male idols. A game released in 2015, which is a hit as long as an animated adaptation sees the light of day. On the second step of the podium, we find Apex Legends and Genshin Impact won the gold medal! MiHoyo’s game regularly posts its updates on Twitter, and has a very active community. In addition, we can think that a lot of tweets were generated following the recent updates of the game (considered by some as an attempt to censor China). like the boycott affair that rocked Twitter last year.
