Galaxy S21 FE: Samsung’s new smartphone is finally presented

Android

Samsung will not have waited for the official start of CES in Las Vegas to start doing the show. After presenting a preview of its new televisions as well as a new monitor in its Odyssey Neo range, the South Korean manufacturer is now lifting the veil on the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE. As a reminder, “FE” here means “Fan Edition” and aims to underline the “light” side of the terminal compared to the Galaxy S21 from which it is largely inspired.

However, do not believe that the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE is a truly “low end” version of the Samsung Galaxy S21. Certainly, the S21 FE swaps the aluminum of the S21 for plastic for its frame and photo unit, but at the same time it has a 6.41 inch 120Hz Super AMOLED display – the Galaxy S21 screen measures 6.2 inches.

Inside, the Exynos 2100 SoC is replaced by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888, with similar performance. RAM goes from 8 GB in the S21 to 6 GB in the S21 FE 128 GB, corn the 256 GB version does however benefit from 8 GB of RAM. The battery itself remains the same, with a typical capacity of 4500 mAh, and compatibility with 25W fast charging and 15W wireless charging.

On the photo side, there is the same 12-megapixel wide-angle sensor on the back, accompanied by a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle as well. A 3x optical zoom and a 30x hybrid zoom are part of the game, and the manufacturer announces that the night mode has been optimized compared to the S21. Furthermore, the front sensor dedicated to the selfie goes from 10 megapixels on the S21 to 32 megapixels on the S21 FE. Samsung thus reproduces the same approach as with the S20 and S20 FE, allowing followers of this kind of shot to make the most of it.

Samsung has decided not to play the pre-order card with this new model, which is available for sale immediately. Two versions, and therefore two prices are required: the 128 GB + 6 GB model costs 759 euros, and the 256 GB + 8 GB model costs 829 euros. Both versions are 5G. Note that if you order yourself a Samsung Galaxy S21 FE from now until February 8, an introductory offer allows you to take advantage ofa free pair of Samsung Galaxy Buds2 headphones from traders participating in the operation.
