If we hear a little less about it today, Among Us remains one of the phenomenon games of the generation. Its popularity rating literally exploded on the outskirts of the first confinement, making it one of the most prominent titles in an already busy industry. Early 2024, we learn that the production of the small InnerSloth studio will soon experience a surprise adaptation for Japan: a manga.
More precisely, it will be a one shot reserved only for the Land of the Rising Sun, through the Japanese magazine Bessatsu CoroCoro Comic. The latter is particularly aimed at children, collecting many manga adaptations of various franchises and varied Japanese culture. The pitch as the date of publication have not been communicated for the moment.
Remember that this is not the first time that a Western video game will be transposed in this way since the iconic Fortnite had also made a leap into the manga universe at the end of 2018-beginning of 2019 in the same magazine. ””’.
It goes without saying that this rather original adaptation can be translated in many ways: on the one hand, the desire of the developers to reach yet another audience and, on the other hand, to extend the influence of the franchise by touching on other mediums. Launched in 2018, Among Us had to wait for the onset of the pandemic to see success, going from a little-known title to one of the most publicized brands. There were even 1.5 million people simultaneously in 2024!
From there to saying that today, the studio wants to see bigger differently, there is only one step. We first saw the expansion of the game on all platforms, moving from the simple PC sector to other platforms, even with a physical collector’s edition aimed at fans. Now with powerful merchandising and a manga on the way, we would not be surprised to learn of the existence of another project concerning the franchise, soon.
